Maintaining Your Retractable Phantom Screens

Follow the proper maintenance guidelines below to ensure years of worry free service for your screens:

Phantom Screens Limited Lifetime Warranty covers the screen components (excluding mesh) to the original purchaser for the lifetime of their home. It also includes a labor warranty that covers the delivery and installation of the warranted components for the first 24 months. If your screen develops a problem you believe is covered under warranty, give us a call.

Our Phantom retractable screens have been designed to be durable and last you a very long time. However accidents happen, life gets in the way and sometimes you’ll need your screen’s mesh replaced. For a small cost, our factory-trained installers will fit your replacement mesh, as well as service your screen to solve any issues they find – leaving your screen running smoothly again.

  • Proper use of your screen will ensure longevity of the screen.
  • Retractable screens are intended to provide reasonable insect control and solar shading – not the retention and/or security of objects, animals, or people.
  • Retractable door screens can blow out in certain windy conditions. Simply open and close the screen to return to track.
  • Spray greaseless silicone spray into the top and bottom tracks and run the screen a few times each year to ensure proper lubrication and forever function ability.
  • Proper maintenance of your screen will ensure longevity of the screen.
  • Screens should be retracted into their protective storage housing when not in use to preserve and extend the life of the mesh.
  • Ensure tracks are kept free of dirt and debris.
  • Clean mesh fabric, housing, tracks and slidebar with water, mild detergent and a soft brush. Not harsh chemicals or a pressure washer.
  • Allow mesh to dry before rolling back into the housing.
  • Motorized screens should be watched during operation.
  • Interruption of power can affect motorized unit operation. Ensure that power is still getting to the unit by checking circuit breakers and ground faults for resetting.
  • Remote controls have a limited battery life. Replace the battery if the light does not come on when the button is pressed.
  • Hose down and prepare cleaning solution of water and mild dish soap (ie: Dawn).
  • Use a clean microfiber towel to clear any dust and to clean.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Air dry ONLY. Do not roll back up until it is completely dry.
  • Screens should be rolled away completely when not in use. This will help protect the screen material from damage by environment, animals, and will help to keep it clean.
  • The screen mesh can be cleaned with a soft brush or cloth when necessary. Using a mild detergent in water and gently wiping it will produce a superior clean finish as will a vacuum with rush attachment.
  • The bottom track can collect dirt and debris. Vacuuming the channel with a nozzle which can get inside the channel is the best solution.
  • The frame is made from extruded aluminum and can be cleaned with water and mild detergent on a soft cloth.
  • The product manufacturer recommends IMAR Strataglass Protective Cleaner if you are looking for a product specified for the vinyl strataglass.
